A New Way To Teach Skills
In the past, skills teaching has been a bit of a hit or miss affair. Skills would be demonstrated to the whole class using a whiteboard and projector. During this time the teacher’s back would be turned to the class and attention would wander.
Teaching complex skills may result in demonstrating over 10 steps to students, which have to be memorised and repeated in exactly the same order.
No wonder then that, as soon as students return to their seats, hands start going up and the entire lesson would spent explaining the skill again to each individual student. With the skills audits included in Advantage National students can learn skills independently using over 250 accurate simulations of real software.
They can learn in a step-by-step manner at their own pace and, because they are actually learning by doing, they will retain more of what they have covered. Once students get used to the system you will never have to teach skills again!
Accurate Skill Assessment
Do you know how many students in a class can perform a mail merge or can cut and paste? Advantage National allows you to assess students’ skill levels using highly accurate simulations of real software.
Using accurate simulations that look and feel exactly like the real thing is vital when assessing skills because there is no single right way to perform a skill.
All of our simulations allow students to demonstrate their knowledge using multiple methods such as context menus, main menus and even shortcut keys.
Once assessments have been completed you can view skills by individual, class or year group. To quickly get a picture of ICT skills in your institution.
Accurate Simulations
All of our simulations allow students incredible freedom to learn skills how they want.
They can chose to learn how to perform a skill in multiple ways and, because the simulations work exactly like the real thing, there is no difficulty when transitioning to the real software.
Simulations currently cover Office 2003 and the Adobe/Macromedia Studio software suite.
